Roadmap to a democratic Cuba - Role of the Civic Society

ALDE Vice Presidents Fernando Maura Barandiarán and Pavel Telička are hosting a conference on the Roadmap to a democratic Cuba - Role of the Civic society in light of the negotiations for a future bilateral Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement.

Kenny Bell, Head of division for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean from the European External Action service will make a presentation about the latest EU-Cuba relations. Cuban political activists, Antonio Rodiles and Rosa María Payá, human rights activist Elizardo Sánchez and the Programme Director for Latin America of Civil Rights Defenders, Erik Jennische will participate in the round table as well as Ambassador Martin Palous, Director of the Václav Havel Initiative for Human Rights and Diplomacy on FIU. The event would be a starting point for a more in-depth ALDE debate in order to establish the basis of ALDE policy towards Cuba in this legislature.
