Safe and Fair Fish in your Plate?
The EU is the world's largest seafood market which is supplied both by the EU fisheries sector and imports from third countries. The EU sector complies with high social and environmental standards that, linked to artisanal and traditional practices and its related processing industry, guarantee the quality and the sustainability of European fish products. The European Commission is currently examining the potential benefits of establishing minimum requirements for an "EU label in fisheries". The ALDE Group would like to analyse the current state of play and to feed the debate on "fisheries labeling".
