Strengthening Russia's European Foundations

At the end of February we will sadly mark the first anniversary of the murder of Boris Nemtsov. On this occasion, the ALDE Group in the EP is organising a number of events to commemorate him and also to look into the future and discuss prospects for a democratic Russia and for stronger relationships not only between the EU and Russia but also between societies and artists. Representatives of the Russian democratic opposition and civil society including opposition leader Mikhail Kasyanov, the daughter of Boris Nemtsov, Zhanna and anti-corruption activist Alexey Navalny will discuss their vision for Russia with Guy Verhofstadt, President of the ALDE Group, Anne Brasseur, former President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and numerous other political leaders. At the beginning of the conference Boris Nemtsov will be awarded the International Jean Rey Prize in memoriam.
